OUR STORY

In 1963, the First Southern Baptist Church and the Woodland Church of Christ each purchased property that shared a common boundary line. A fence went up to separate the two churches, but in 1986 a wind storm blew it down. No one thought to replace it.

Eventually, both churches ended up with new pastors. The pastors became friends, and even dared to talk about differences in doctrine and practice. After many years of praying, talking, and planning, both pastors discovered they had more in common than not. They decided to seek God's will about merging together as one congregation. 

After a series of open forum meetings, we began worshipping together in July 1997 and have been one church ever since. 

As our church has grown and changed over the years, so has our love for God and the people of Woodland. We encourage our members to be the hands and feet of Jesus— at work, in their neighborhoods, and through missions organizations around the world.
