Confidence and Peace
March 20, 2020, 2:22 AM

During this time of uncertainty and fear, it is so important to remember the resources God has given us for lives of confidence and peace.

• Prayer—drawing near to the Lord, casting your anxiety on Him to receive His peace (“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7).

• Scripture—hearing God’s reassuring voice above all the other voices (I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33).

• Relationships—call someone every day who could use encouragement and prayer (“Therefore encourage one another and build up one another” 1 Thessalonians 5:11).

• Ministry—the joy that goes both ways from serving one another in love (“He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25).

Other resources I have found very helpful:

• The Briefing—Southern Seminary president Albert Mohler gets up early to take three of the top news stories every day and consider them from a Biblical worldview. Whereas I find myself often upset after listening to the news, I leave uplifted and informed listening to The Briefing while I get ready for my day. You can listen through computer or phone app (albertmohler.com/the-briefing).

• Tim Challies—Every day this pastor and author will email you A La Carte, the best short articles from Christian and news bloggers, and you can click the links of the ones you like to read. I have greatly benefited from these encouraging and insightful articles (challies.com/category/a-la-carte).

• Psalms in Music—If you have a music streaming service, search for “Ian White Psalms.” I have found great comfort and encouragement for decades in this Scottish singer’s contemporary renditions of the psalms.

Standing with you in the grace of God (1 Peter 5:12),

Pastor Ron Prosise
Director of Ministry, SRBN
